What's good: If you grew up in the 80's, you'll doubtless recall the popularity of the side-scrolling shooter Space Invaders. Chances are, you're one of the millions for whom it's an indispensable part of your gaming experience, which is why we know you'll love Hexage for building on this opportunity and bringing you a revamped modern version that's integrated into the developer's trademark bright neon colors and wonderfully polished sound effects. The main gameplay basically revolves around the same concepts as the traditional arcade shooter - move your ship left and right to auto-fire at targeted opponents, catch unique power-ups, and evade attacks as wave after wave of supercreeps, bosses, and rock fragments plummet and dive with the clear intention of destroying you. Additionally, the game features an upgrades mechanic where you can purchase various weapons and additional life to gain headway through the hordes of invaders. This effectively ups strategic value, as you need to allocate credits wisely and spend them on enhancements which you think will afford the best advantage. With skill and proper planning, your three lives might just last you far enough to see the end of over thirty levels of faithfully recreated arcade sounds and pixelated graphics. Hexage does an incredible job of reinventing the game that took the world by storm and reinterpreting it to adapt to the modern world. It's no wonder it snagged a spot in this month's 'New and Noteworthy' list!

Suggestions for improvement: Create checkpoints to avoid restarting from scratch when you fail your mission.
