What's good: If you think you've seen all there is to see in the puzzle genre for your Apple devices, you're most certainly wrong. Not only did the developers at FatAttitude come up with a mind-bendingly unique game to fit the popular genre, they made the first sixteen levels available for free download, too. In Squarepeg Game, the goal is to fit all the given shapes into corresponding holes on the screen. While it starts straightforwardly enough, it quickly turns into a real brain challenge as levels get trickier (and might sometimes even seem impossible) to solve. As you go along, you'll encounter locked portals that must first be opened by other pieces, colors that don't match and need to be shifted into a different hue, and shapes that need to be reoriented to fit. To add to the already tough gameplay, you've also got a ticking clock in the corner as well as limited numbers of pegs and turns. Various other factors slowly increase the complexity of what at first seems like a simple child's game until you are completely and hopelessly glued to your device, calling on every ounce of logical thinking (and luck, too) to successfully see the end of each insanely crafty stage. If you make a mistake, well, you can replay levels as many times as you wish, with no penalties. Or leave it for another day, when your mind is refreshed and ready to take on the game anew. Obviously, this was created for puzzle fans - players patient enough to keep trying after initial failures. We still advise everyone to try, though - not only does this engaging app not cost a cent (initially, that is), it'll really jolt those dormant brain cells awake!
Suggestions for improvement: If the graphics were further improved on, this app will no doubt shoot to the top of the puzzle genre and trounce many less innovation competitors.
