What's good: Valentine's Day is just around the corner, and to celebrate the romantic occasion, Dot Next has just published a fun casual game for the enjoyment of lovers everywhere. In Cupid at Work, you are the wily Cupid, eager to strike your arrows and create instant love between unassuming couples-to-be in a manner similar to most humorous cartoon depictions. Hidden in the shadows, you watch the sidewalk carefully as various people (and even some extraterrerstrials) stroll in an unceasing flow, aiming your deadly point to hit when two people cross paths. If you create a less than ideal match - for example between a mermaid and a viking warrior - then you get points off, while an ordinary or high-affinity match boosts your score. The app makes it easy to carry out your sweet intentions with simple and intuitive controls that involve swiping your finger left or right to move your bow, dragging down the bottom of the screen to tighten the bow strings, and releasing to fire. Tapping a passerby will make him or her go the other way, while bouquets of flowers, chocolate boxes, or other bonuses occasionally appear and reward you with more arrows or points when picked up. It's all very straightforward, and all that you need to be a successful matchmaker, in fact, is quickness of reflexes and an eye for who goes well with whom. Each level has a time limit within which you need to complete a specific number of matches, otherwise the gods of love will have no choice but to fire your Cupid for luckless incompetence! If you thought this looked easy, be prepared for a challenge that will keep you hooked even after Valentine's Day. Fun and casual with a twist of humor, this delightful game also features clean graphics and a catchy yet somewhat mysterious soundtrack. Overall, it's a lovely package - one that you definitely should not miss as you prepare for your day of hearts!
Suggestions for improvement: We'd like to see more gameplay features apart from collecting bonuses and shooting arrows. If there were, say, different levels with new elements in each, weapon upgrades, and power-ups, that would make things a lot more interesting.
